Are you passionate about creating a culture of safety and environmental stewardship? We’re searching for a dedicated Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join Company dynamic team at our Walker, Michigan plant. Reporting directly to the EHS Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving safety initiatives, fostering a strong safety culture, and ensuring regulatory compliance. If you’re a proactive leader with expertise in OSHA and EPA regulations, particularly in stamping and welding operations, this opportunity is tailor-made for you!


Key Responsibilities

  • Champion Safety Culture: Foster and promote a robust safety culture across the plant.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to company EHS policies, OSHA and state-run OSHA programs, EPA, DEQ regulations, and customer-specific EHS standards.
  • Lead and Collaborate: Head the plant’s Safety Committee and work closely with operators, team leads, and management to achieve EHS goals.
  • EHS Program Management: Develop, implement, and drive EHS programs and initiatives tailored to the plant’s needs.
  • Hazard Mitigation: Proactively identify and address hazards through collaboration and education.
  • Environmental Permits: Manage environmental permits and prepare required reports, including TIER II submissions.
  • Incident Management: Investigate and manage incidents and near misses with a focus on root cause analysis and prevention.
  • Team Contribution: Actively participate as a key member of the larger EHS team spanning 12 plants, contributing to the development of innovative programs and solutions.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5 years of EHS experience; automotive or heavy manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification, GSP, ACSP, CSP, or similar certifications are a strong plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and conflict resolution abilities.
    • Ability to work independently with remote support.
    • A collaborative mindset and solution-focused approach.
    • Initiative for proactive risk reduction.
    • Transparency, honesty, and integrity in all work.
    • Thrives in hands-on environments.
