Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Report directly to the Plant Manager, Safety Director, and Environmental Director.
- Partner with Superintendents and Supervisors to achieve company-wide safety goals.
- Provide visible leadership, driving safety excellence and promoting accountability at all levels.
- Program Implementation & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs and processes.
- Educate, engage, and motivate team members to maintain a safety-focused culture.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations through regular audits.
- Hazard Management & Prevention
- Identify and eliminate potential hazards proactively.
- Conduct thorough investigations of accidents and property damage, providing root cause analysis and recommending preventive measures.
- Analyze operations to maintain accurate Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and ergonomic task safety assessments.
- Training & Awareness
- Train managers, supervisors, and crews on critical safety programs, such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and emergency evacuations.
- Ensure training sessions are documented and conducted regularly.
- Lead safety committee meetings to raise awareness and reduce incidents.
- Incident Response & Medical Coordination
- Build relationships with medical providers and assist injured workers with treatment plans and return-to-work programs.
- Accompany employees to medical appointments as needed and coordinate effective care plans.
- Respond to emergencies promptly and provide 24/7 availability when required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain safety standards as a trusted resource and partner.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, and employee engagement.
- Analytical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience managing injury/accident claims and reducing associated costs is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other reporting systems.
