This role plays a critical part in ensuring a safe, compliant, and continuously improving work environment. The Safety Coordinator will drive a safety-first culture by implementing structured safety processes, leading audits, and fostering employee engagement through proactive safety measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the facility’s one-page safety plan, focusing on Safety Hour, R3 events, audit completions, and employee participation.
- Drive long-term safety culture improvements through consistent implementation of safety processes.
- Guide and support the Plant Safety Leadership Team.
- Implement behavior-based safety programs to reduce incidents and risks.
- Coach employees on auditing techniques, incident investigations, and training programs.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and GA-EPD standards through applied knowledge of regulations.
- Collaborate across departments to drive safety improvements based on data trends, feedback, and industry best practices.
- Manage safety-related projects and initiatives aligned with plant goals.
- Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and compliance systems.
- Maintain regulatory records and file reports to meet all compliance requirements.
- Engage with regulatory agencies and internal teams to resolve safety and compliance issues.
- Review new equipment for adequate safety controls and implementation.
- Support operational plans focused on safety and environmental performance.
- Provide 24/7 support for incident response, including environmental emergencies.
- Work closely with the corporate EH&S team to roll out company-wide initiatives.
- Contribute as an active member of the Division Safety Coordinators network.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead and influence teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment with safety responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or 7+ years in safety leadership within manufacturing.
- Experience in managing cross-functional safety projects.
- Background in working with multiple departments and business lines.
- Proficient in Vizio, MS Project, SharePoint, SPC Software, and Agile tools.
