Main Responsibilities:
As an Safety Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management system. Your tasks will include:
- HSE System Coordination: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the local HSE management system and regional Written Safety Program.
- Employee Safety Training: Conduct safety orientation for new employees and annual refresher training for current employees to ensure safety compliance.
- Onboarding & Safety: Collaborate with HR to integrate safety into the employee onboarding process.
- Accident Reporting: Ensure supervisors complete accident reports and maintain an updated summary log and safety folder, while collaborating with HR for timely workers’ compensation submissions.
- Accident Investigations: Investigate accidents and incidents onsite, identifying causes and ensuring corrective actions.
- OSHA 300 Log & Reporting: Maintain the OSHA 300 Log, update safety boards, create safety alerts, and compile monthly/annual safety data for regional and external regulatory agencies.
- Safety Committee Meetings: Coordinate and manage monthly Safety Committee meetings, ensuring closure of action items and compliance with safety procedures.
- Safety Inspections & Drills: Conduct regular safety inspections, coordinate annual emergency evacuation drills, and generate reports for departmental action items.
- Safety Policies & Procedures: Assist in the creation, review, and updating of onsite safety policies, safe job procedures, and checklists.
- PPE Compliance: Monitor employee adherence to PPE requirements and ensure safety during workplace repairs, installations, and operations.
- Liaison Role: Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies such as fire departments, insurance personnel, and regulators.
- Continuous Improvement: Attend ongoing HSE coordinator training, support Plant Manager with target setting and monitoring, and provide HSE risk assessments as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required). Additional certifications or education in Occupational Safety & Health is a plus.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (both written and oral). Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Organizational Skills: Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle documentation, presentations, and data with accuracy.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal, written, and listening communication abilities; ability to effectively communicate safety-related topics with enthusiasm.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs and engage in physical activities as required for safety inspections and training.
