Job Summary: Safety Coordinator
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all safety policies and programs for IES projects, ensuring compliance with IES, customer, and federal/state safety standards. This role includes conducting training, inspections, and audits, as well as managing health and safety initiatives to prevent workplace incidents, injuries, and illnesses. Candidates with EMT or higher credentials are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to IES, site-specific, and federal/state safety standards.
- Safety Training: Develop and deliver safety presentations, including OSHA 10/30-hour courses and new employee orientations.
- Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular job site safety audits, documenting compliance and identifying potential hazards.
- Hazard Management: Develop and implement action plans to eliminate risks and reduce incidents.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed reports on safety audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Incident Investigation: Lead root cause analyses for workplace incidents and collaborate with management on preventative measures.
- Regulatory Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison during OSHA inspections.
- Confined Space Management: Oversee confined space entry activities and related training.
- Stakeholder Support: Mentor employees, coordinate with site management, and promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $28.00 – $38.00 USD
Qualifications
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Self-motivated and professional, with the ability to lead process improvements.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Capable of conducting physical inspections, including walking, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and bending.
- Willingness to travel as required within regional or branch territories.
- Ability to respond to safety emergencies promptly, with or without prior notice.
Education, Certification, and Experience
- Required: High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Preferred Certifications:
- EMT or higher credentials.
- Authorized OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer.
- CHST (Construction Health/Safety Technician) certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in construction, preferably in telecommunications or electrical industries.
- Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and Confined Space Entry Standards (1926.1200 Subpart AA).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
