This HSQE Advisor role plays a crucial part in delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality infrastructure projects across Ireland.
The position is based on-site, supporting active construction and operational phases. The ideal candidate will be passionate
about creating a proactive safety culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the safe and successful delivery of infrastructure projects, promoting a unified, collaborative work environment.
- Promote a strong culture of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability awareness through day-to-day actions and decisions.
- Maintain full compliance with current environmental, health, and safety legislation, and stay updated on relevant legal and industry changes.
- Provide ongoing HSQE presence on-site, ensuring controls and mitigation measures are fully implemented and monitored.
- Support the development of Site Construction Stage Plans, traffic and waste management plans, and monitor their application during project execution.
- Oversee responsibilities relating to Project Supervisor Design Process (PD), Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PC), and contractor duties.
- Ensure all internal and external EHS reporting is completed accurately and on time.
- Track and report hazard observations, ensuring that findings from inspections and audits are documented, acted upon, and communicated through the online management system.
- Lead or assist in incident and accident investigations, offering actionable recommendations to site management.
- Review safety documentation from clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure project-specific safety compliance.
- Verify that subcontractors align with project safety plans before onboarding and ensure continuous monitoring throughout the project lifecycle.
- Update the Safety and Health Plan based on new subcontractor details, project progress, design updates, or incident feedback.
- Conduct site inspections, prepare reports, and maintain up-to-date safety records in alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
- Deliver safety inductions and toolbox talks for all site personnel, including subcontractors.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders and regulatory authorities when required.
- Evaluate workforce training needs ahead of new projects and highlight skill gaps or certification requirements to the HSQE Manager.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as necessary to support site health, safety, and environmental goals.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of Level 7 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the civil, water, or wastewater sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Construction Regulations 2013.
- Proven ability to drive positive safety culture and embed best practices on-site.
Skills
- Clear and confident communicator, with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and digital platforms for audits, reporting, and inspections.
- Ability to adapt quickly to project demands and evolving site conditions.
- Valid full driving license.
