Key Responsibilities

The position of HSE & Training Manager at AkzoNobel in Faisalabad, Pakistan, calls for a dynamic safety professional dedicated to fostering a zero-harm culture and enhancing operational excellence. This role involves:

  • Driving improvement initiatives aligned with AkzoNobel’s Common Platform, with particular emphasis on SAQ (Self-Assessment Questionnaire) and Life-Saving Rules (LSR) compliance. Annual SAQ reviews must be conducted and documented thoroughly.
  • Collaborating with the Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) Steering Committee to provide expert guidance on all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) matters.
  • Ensuring effective implementation and ongoing maintenance of ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems and ISO45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems at the site.
  • Conducting routine HSE&S inspections and audits on a daily and monthly basis to ensure continuous compliance and hazard identification.
  • Supporting line managers in aligning site activities with local HSE legislation as well as corporate safety standards, rules, and procedural frameworks.
  • Participating in incident and accident investigations, assisting in root cause analysis, and supporting the implementation of follow-up corrective actions. Incident learnings from other sites must also be shared to promote cross-site knowledge transfer.
  • Offering assistance during incident and crisis management events to ensure appropriate escalation and resolution protocols are followed.
  • Consolidating HSE performance data and submitting accurate KPI reports to corporate teams, business area management units (BA SMU), and site leadership. Timely and accurate incident reporting via Enablon’s HSE Suite is essential.

Required Experience

Ideal candidates will bring 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in a health, safety, and environmental management role, preferably within the chemical or manufacturing sectors. Success in this role is strongly linked to:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the agility to engage diverse teams and drive a culture of accountability.
