Key Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting.
- Assist with onboarding safety training for new employees, helping them understand workplace expectations from day one.
- Facilitate job-specific and compliance-driven safety training sessions.
- Maintain records related to safety training programs, certifications, and participation.
- Promote safety awareness through visible messaging, campaigns, signage, and regular engagement with production and maintenance teams.
- Participate in daily pre-shift safety meetings across departments to reinforce safety protocols.
- Conduct routine safety inspections focusing on hazard identification and risk mitigation—areas include emergency exits, fire extinguishers, machine guarding, and PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) operations.
- Monitor adherence to pre-use inspection procedures for equipment such as ladders, hoists, and fall protection systems.
- Support regular safety audits and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Inspect and update critical safety signage, including confined space, lockout/tagout, and chemical labeling.
- Take part in safety committees and employee engagement teams, helping lead initiatives that recognize and reward safe behavior.
- Contribute to projects aimed at reducing workplace safety and health risks.
- Ensure readiness of emergency response equipment (HAZMAT, Lone Worker, Confined Space Rescue).
- Participate in safety council meetings, emergency drills, and response planning.
- Provide support and guidance to employees regarding equipment safety and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage.
- Serve as a point of contact for safety-related questions and concerns.
- Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field; plus 3+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing or construction setting.
OR
3+ years of hands-on safety leadership experience in a relevant industry without a formal degree. - Preferred: OHST (Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technologist) certification from BCSP.
- OSHA 30-Hour and OSHA 511 certifications required.
- Valid and current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Spanish language proficiency is a strong plus.
- Valid driver’s license is required.

- Strong hazard recognition and decision-making in high-risk environments.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, particularly 29 CFR 1910.
- Exceptional attention to detail during safety walkthroughs and assessments.
- Confident public speaking abilities, with experience addressing large groups.
- Capable of providing coaching and guidance on safety practices at all levels.
- Physically fit to spend up to 80% of working hours on the shop floor.
- Able to manage multiple safety initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
