Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site observations to ensure safety compliance, adhering to company policies.
  • Collaborate with operations to integrate safety measures into project planning, including risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and implementing control measures.
  • Ensure worksites are equipped with the necessary OSHA, MSHA, and DOT documentation (e.g., HazCom, rigging, cranes, excavation, scaffolding).
  • Develop training materials tailored to specific site hazards, based on site visit needs assessments.
  • Conduct incident investigations and report findings to improve safety protocols.
  • Create and assist with site-specific Toolbox Talks, Safety Flashes, and monthly safety training sessions.
  • Oversee Subcontractor Safe Starts and ensure subcontractor safety compliance and performance.
  • Lead and facilitate OSHA and MSHA inspections and related training.
  • Perform new hire safety orientations and post-accident drug screening.
  • Participate in morning huddles and project planning meetings to address safety issues.
  • Contribute to dynamic stretching sessions at worksites to promote safety.
  • Provide expert safety support to the Project Team throughout the job site.
  • Purchase safety equipment as necessary to maintain compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HSE/Safety or related field with 0-3 years of experience in a HSE/Safety role; OR no degree with 1-3 years of experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Must be willing to travel overnight or long distances when needed.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines and pressure.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
