Position Summary:

The health safety specialist executes daily health safety operations while working on program advancement. The Health & Safety Specialist serves operations by delivering technical and professional support with reporting duties that extend to both Plant Manager authority and environmental management through Director of Health Safety and Environment. This position requires direct floor engagement to maintain high visibility while actively working among other employees.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • The specialist functions as a key support to Plant Manager to execute safety strategies which achieve business targets.
  • The leader actively provides guidance to all staff ranging from supervisors to hourly workers to develop leadership abilities for better floor communication and safety execution that results in zero incidents.
  • The individual should expect hazardous conditions and practices and perform comprehensive hazard evaluations.
  • The process of hazard elimination and risk reduction in the site or facility utilizes the hierarchy of controls.
  • Plants choose and execute and guides others about the implementation of hazard control applications which pertain to their facilities.
  • Execute standards from within the organization and external sources to reduce hazards and remain compliant through passionate leadership at the plant level.
  • The employee observes every new law and provides business-relevant suggestions regarding its effects.
  • As the PSM subject matter expert at the local level the professional supports the development and manages revision schedules for all JHA’s, SOP’s.
  • Completion of safety evaluations with site level self-auditing duties as well as responsibility for conducting site safety committee meetings and ergonomics programs.
  • The employee delivers EHS training courses under instructor guidance when necessary.
  • Becoming an active participant within business-associated organizations representing regulatory agencies supports the development of collaborative working relations.
  • The position provides on-site direction to managers and supervisors for incident reporting and investigation activities to maintain company-established criteria.
  • The team should review incidents while Root Cause Analysis must be performed to avoid future occurrences and trigger corrective actions through health checks.
  • Training schedules of the facility get maintained according to regulatory guidelines while the facility records also stay in full regulatory compliance. Every time facility safety training is necessary the coordinator provides applicable sessions using appropriate materials including hands-on activities, PowerPoints and props at scheduled dates.
  • The company executes written EHS programs together with corporation safety policies as defined by jurisdictional demands. The hearing conservation local program must be conducted in compliance with established requirements.
  • Plant leadership depends on the employee to verify that all safety inspections run monthly. The manager provides proposals to fix observed inadequacies.
  • The team offers worker compensation support to employees inside the organization. The facility maintains work comp safety contact responsibilities to answer claims questions while collaborating with insurance adjusters and medical professionals and injured workers.
  • The maintenance of health and safety costs falls within the responsibility of managing the plants financial budgets.
  • The role helps to carry out safety training programs for all new employees joining the organization.
    The establishment of metrics needs to match the needs specified by company Leadership.

Education And Experience

  • A candidate holding at least a BA/BS degree in occupational safety or science or engineering or related discipline are required.
  • The candidate requires at least three to five years of Health & Safety experience from manufacturing work before applying.
  • Professional EHS certification desired

  • The candidate must demonstrate their ability to lead teams through their previous manufacturing experience.
  • Someone who both displays team-oriented leadership while acting as an inspiration for others.
  • The candidate must possess both deep understanding of occupational health and safety regulations together with sound knowledge.
  • A deep understanding of general industry standards combined with fundamental knowledge about health safety principles including hazard & risk assessments and behaviors related to safety protocols and equipment safety procedures.
  • The professional competency to lead both workplace gatherings of management staff and employees and group presentations
  • An individual must possess communication skills surpassing average standards to provide structured and direct information throughout every organizational level.
  • A supervisor must demonstrate skills that enable the learning process between supervisors and shop floor employees.
  • Determined follow-ups help individuals meet their designated timing requirements
    An effective capability for managing multiple tasks in addition to overseeing workload distribution
  • The individual brings together result-driven enthusiasm and intense work approach which merges purposeful speed with both strategic and operational daily requirements.
  • An individual must have advanced analytical thinking skills to detect issues, solve problems and manage risks together with launching continuous improvements programs.
  • Establish the capacity to execute numerous tasks while doing various duties promptly before deadlines.
  • The person possesses strong knowledge of business processes that span outside their areas of individual responsibility.
  • Leadership management competencies along with decisive capabilities operate under fast-paced conditions requiring urgent decision-making.
