Position Overview
As Health Safety Environment Specialist you will act as a safety and health program coordinator for both ConocoPhillips and L48 Gulf Coast & Rockies Organization contract employees. The health and safety specialist will help contract employees follow local, state and federal laws and company demands which cover OSHA, DOT, NRC, and EPA regulations. The position requires providing operational safety support to contractors.
Being a consultant, you will work in a Safety Important position.
Your responsibilities may include:
- As part of their role the employee provides Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) guidance to support both operations and development activities.
- The role requires assistance in the delivery of contractor safety communication systems and operational coordination for safety maintenance.
- The workplace team must evaluate hot work documentation and confined space and other work authorization permits.
- The role requires providing HSE guidelines for constructing projects.
- The team receives guidance from this position regarding HSE matters during pre-job planning and hazard control activities.
- Incident and near-miss investigations require guidance from you which results in recommended corrective actions and Intelex system entries.
- The team member collaborates with incident investigation panels while taking part in root cause failure analysis procedures.
- The coordinator helps maintain worker incident reports according to OSHA standards for field-based personnel.
Conducting HSE Meetings - The task requires delivering support services to meet health and safety regulations.
- The delivery of safety awareness programs needs proper guidance and support from safety professionals.
- Public and specialized instruction about regulatory and topic-specific matters
- The system supports industrial hygiene and health through testing, monitoring, safety inspections along with audits and generates necessary reports for documentation purposes.
- This role involves the process of health, safety and emergency response issue identification coupled with assessment and action recommendation stages.
- Knowing and observing safe work practices
- The role requires delivering HSE presentations to different groups of stakeholders.
- The staff performs monitoring tasks for IH services alongside other HSE personnel activities according to requirements.
- The agency needed support for coordinating inspections and certifications related to HSE activities.
Basic/Required:
- A full-time work authorization in the United States from all sources except the current employer is required.
- Current/valid driver’s license
- The employee needs beginner skills in using all Office 365 applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word
- The employee needs to be capable of traveling at least 25% throughout each yearly period and should be able to do so either with or without accommodations.
- The job requires ability and permission (accommodations optional) to meet the following requirements:
- Work in both harsh temperatures and weather conditions and various geographic locations daily, operate company vehicles while wearing specialized safety gear, climb up to 24 feet high and perform
- physical tasks such as walking, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling and accepting weekend assignments and being available on-call.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Safety, Environmental Sciences, other related field, or foreign equivalent
- Certified Safety Professional, OSHA CSHO in Construction Industry or General Industry
- 5 or more years of experience as a safety professional in operations and maintenance
- The candidate needs to have at least three years of experience to review, revise and implement (HSE)
- Management System program, procedures and policies while demonstrating knowledge of the Management System.
- 1 or more years of experience with the coordination of Risk Assessments
- An experienced professional should have at least one year of practice in creating business performance metrics to measure organizational progress.
- 1 or more years of experience working with health and safety regulations
- The candidate should have at least 1 year experience analyzing root causes through investigative documentation to develop solution-based recommendations.
- Strong background in General Construction Safety (OSHA Construction Safety)
- The candidate demonstrates excellent planning skills together with organizational abilities which enable
- independent work and effective time management for prioritizing tasks and fulfilling commitments when handling heavy workloads.
- The professional demonstrates abilities to build and maintain effective networks and teams and their functioning.
