Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety Objectives: Drive and contribute to key health and safety projects aligned with the Health and Safety Team’s annual plan. Support the development and promotion of a compliant health and safety culture in accordance with current legislation.
- Problem-Solving: Utilize proven methods to recommend and implement solutions to both simple and complex health and safety issues within your competence, minimizing risks of non-compliance.
- Compliance Oversight: Continuously review and ensure adherence to health and safety arrangements, acting as a role model within the organization.
- Monitoring & Documentation: Develop and execute health and safety monitoring activities and maintain accurate documentation across the business.
- Managerial Support: Provide technical advice and support to managers to ensure safe working practices and compliance with accident/incident investigations and reporting obligations.
- Communication: Deliver clear and effective health and safety information using diverse communication styles and techniques to ensure stakeholder understanding of legislation, policies, and standards.
- Training Delivery: Design, deliver, and review training materials to enhance health and safety knowledge and compliance throughout the business.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, represent the Health and Safety Team in meetings, and influence a proactive health and safety culture.
- Operational Support: Ensure effective management of facilities like The Garth and Tanners Yard, including fire drills, health and safety processes, and accurate documentation.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience: Proven background in health and safety, ideally in social housing or the public sector, with knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
- Qualifications: Health and safety certification (e.g., IOSH or NEBOSH General Certificate, Environmental Health) or equivalent field-related qualification.
- Specialized Expertise: Willingness to develop expertise in areas like construction, fire safety, and COSHH.
- Driving License: Full UK driving license required.
- Soft Skills: Customer-focused with excellent communication, interpersonal, and accountability skills.
