In this critical role, you’ll design and implement safety programs, ensure compliance with regulations, and foster a culture of safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety Policies and Compliance
- Develop and implement robust health and safety policies tailored to FMCG, warehousing, and logistics environments.
- Ensure full compliance with local, regional, and international health and safety regulations.
- Regularly update policies to reflect regulatory changes and operational requirements.
Risk Management and Safety Audits
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards in warehouses, logistics, and FMCG processes.
- Implement mitigation strategies to prevent workplace incidents and ensure employee well-being.
- Oversee regular safety audits and inspections, ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly.
Employee Training and Safety Awareness
- Design and deliver comprehensive health and safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote awareness of emergency protocols, including fire drills and evacuation procedures.
- Foster a culture of safety through workshops, campaigns, and consistent communication.
Incident Management and Reporting
- Investigate workplace incidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate incident records and generate detailed reports for senior management.
- Collaborate with legal and insurance teams on workplace incident claims.
Operational and Environmental Safety Oversight
- Monitor safety practices for handling, storage, and transportation of FMCG goods.
- Enforce proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols across operations.
- Ensure sustainability and environmental compliance, including waste management and energy efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of proven experience in health and safety management, preferably in FMCG, warehousing, or logistics sectors.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing safety programs.
Skills:
- Expertise in health and safety laws and regulations.
- Exceptional risk assessment and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to drive safety initiatives.
- Proficiency in HSE management tools and systems.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
