Job Overview

Stantec is currently seeking an experienced HSE Engineer for a high-profile sewerage network construction project in Dubai, UAE. This role is vital to ensuring the safety of all site activities, protecting workers, equipment, and the surrounding environment at every phase — from design through to maintenance.

As an HSE Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in enforcing safety compliance, leading risk assessments, coordinating emergency procedures, and contributing to a safer infrastructure development in line with local and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • ✅ Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for sewerage network construction, identifying hazards related to equipment, environment, materials, and processes.
  • ✅ Analyze and review risk mitigation strategies to prevent accidents and occupational health issues.
  • ✅ Examine sewer/stormwater network plans to detect design-related risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • ✅ Lead emergency response planning for incidents such as chemical spills, equipment malfunctions, or workplace accidents.
  • ✅ Act as the key contact for emergency services coordination and government authorities when needed.
  • ✅ Apply expert-level knowledge of DM (Dubai Municipality) and RTA (Roads & Transport Authority) safety guidelines.
  • ✅ Design, review, and manage traffic diversion schemes to ensure public and worker safety in active work zones.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil, Environmental, or Health & Safety Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in HSE roles specific to infrastructure and sewerage network construction.
  • Deep understanding of UAE HSE regulations, construction safety standards, and local authority requirements.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to work with cross-functional teams and external agencies.
