A rewarding opportunity is open for a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor at Newmont Corporation’s Brucejack Mine in the Kitimat-Stikine region. This position is ideal for those who bring practical safety expertise, field presence, and a deep commitment to fostering a safe, compliant, and inclusive mining operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-the-ground coaching and training to support safe procedures, risk identification, and incident reporting.
  • Lead or support safety programs targeting critical risk reduction, injury prevention, and worker wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with site and functional leaders to embed safety into daily routines and site operations.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to maintain compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate Occupational Health & Safety Representative programs to improve frontline engagement.
  • Implement and monitor safety management systems and support change management initiatives.
  • Participate in incident investigations using tools such as the 5 Whys and Event Reporting systems.
  • Support Line of Defense 1 (LOD1) activities to assess and verify safety process effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related technical discipline.
  • CSO (Construction Safety Officer) or NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) certification is considered an asset.
  • At least 2 years of field-based experience in a Health & Safety role within underground mining.
  • Experience in industrial or construction environments is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of industry safety standards such as CSA, OSHA, or MSHA.
  • Proven ability to perform risk assessments, lead investigations, and implement safety procedures.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence safety behavior in the field.
  • Experience working directly with frontline teams and operational leaders.
  • Ability to analyze H&S performance data and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Understanding of change management and basic project coordination practices.
  • Motivated, proactive, and collaborative with a focus on safety and team performance.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) is an asset.

Work Environment

  • Location: Brucejack Mine (fly-in/fly-out role)
  • Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
  • Conditions: Remote industrial mining environment
  • Requirements: Successful completion of pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing, and full compliance with PPE and site safety protocols
