Key Responsibilities
- Health, Safety & Environmental Documentation: Drafts, updates, and implements HSE policies and procedures aligned with UK law, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and industry best practices.
- Promoting a Positive Safety Culture: Provides practical safety guidance to management, supervisors, and workers regarding procedures, emergency response, and safe practices.
- Strategic HSE Planning: Sets measurable safety objectives, prioritizes actions, and establishes performance standards to support continuous improvement.
- HSE System Reviews and Auditing: Conducts audits of the entire HSE management system and ensures alignment with compliance standards.
- Risk Assessment and Control Measures: Performs hazard identification and implements mitigation strategies through risk assessments.
- Compliance Monitoring: Conducts regular inspections to ensure site compliance with UK regulations, CDM 2015, and internal policies.
- Project Coordination: Collaborates with Project Managers to ensure contractors and subcontractors follow safe working procedures as per HSE protocols.
- Supervision of PPE Use: Oversees the implementation and appropriate use of personal and collective protective equipment.
- Incident Reporting and Analysis: Ensures all incidents are reported, root causes are investigated, and corrective measures are applied.
- HSE Training: Plans and delivers induction programs, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety training.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develops and runs emergency response plans and drills to maintain site readiness.
- Regulatory Liaison: Acts as point of contact during HSE inspections and ensures prompt corrective actions when required.
- HSE Meetings: Participates in internal and external safety meetings with contractors and suppliers.
- Documentation and KPI Reporting: Maintains accurate records of inspections, training, and monthly HSE KPIs.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Degree in health and safety, environmental management, engineering, or relevant field in the construction sector.
- Certifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
- Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in construction safety, ideally within large-scale energy or HV projects.
- Proven ability to perform risk assessments, lead investigations, and deliver safety training.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools for safety documentation.
