An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated HSE Advisor to support Black & Veatch operations in Glasgow, UK. This role is ideal for professionals with strong field-based health, safety, and environmental expertise, particularly in the construction sector. The position plays a key part in maintaining compliance, enhancing safety culture, and upholding internationally recognized HSE standards across office and project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and roll out tailored HSE programs aligned with UK safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Deliver safety and health training sessions to promote awareness and ensure legal compliance within office-based teams.
- Carry out regular inspections, audits, and on-site visits to monitor adherence to safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
- Maintain ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 management systems across operational activities.
- Act as the primary contact for EHS audit requests and coordinate closely with the ISO Lead to support external assessments.
- Provide expert EHS input during project proposal reviews and contractor prequalification processes.
- Prepare Emergency Action Plans for offices and applicable projects to ensure readiness for crisis scenarios.
- Draft project-specific HSE plans that reflect unique operational risks and local legislative requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong background in the UK construction industry with hands-on site experience.
- Proven track record in health, safety, and environmental management.
- Practical understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, including implementation and compliance.
- Commitment to gaining ISO HSE Lead Auditor certification if not currently held.
- NEBOSH National Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent NVQ Level 6/7 Health & Safety qualification.
- In-depth knowledge of UK HSE legislation, industry practices, and risk management strategies.
- Chartered Membership with IOSH (CMIOSH) or actively pursuing it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified ISO HSE Lead Auditor from an accredited body.
- Familiarity with legal compliance audits and engagement with regulatory bodies.
- Experience collaborating with engineers and design teams in safety planning.
- Knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations and their application in construction projects.
- Awareness of HSE-related budgeting, cost controls, and security risk management protocols.
