Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level guidance on safety programs, procedures, and policies within electric utility design, construction, and maintenance activities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to front-line leaders and field teams, helping shape a proactive and accountable safety culture.
- Identify potential risks and collaborate with teams to implement effective mitigation strategies that prevent injuries and save lives.
- Serve as a coach and mentor on safety behavior, delivering training and reinforcing safe work practices.
- Support the implementation of the organization’s Safety Support Plan and related initiatives.
- Facilitate conversations around safety concerns, helping resolve issues with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
- Attend safety meetings, reviews, and policy discussions to support organizational improvements and compliance.
- Interpret and apply safety rules and standards to real-world field scenarios, escalating concerns when necessary.
- Analyze safety performance data, evaluate observations and corrective actions, and ensure operational compliance.
- Collaborate with teams across departments, providing insight and support that aligns with operational goals and drives meaningful results.
- Uphold strict standards in handling sensitive data, including private customer information, health records, and cybersecurity assets.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least seven years of experience in electrical utility craft, compliance programs, or safety systems.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Familiarity with electrical generation systems and their operation.
- Working knowledge of CAL/OSHA regulations and safety compliance in the electric utility sector.
- Experience with safety investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Recognized certifications such as Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to assess work methods and recommend safety-related process improvements.
