Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an unwavering commitment to safety while upholding the company’s core values and ethical conduct.
- Monitor and mitigate hazardous working conditions through close collaboration with project managers and field supervisors.
- Oversee safety operations during assigned shift work, including first aid, emergency response coordination, and rescue squad management.
- Lead safety orientation sessions and training programs for staff and craft workers.
- Conduct thorough inspections of work zones, perform air sampling for confined space entry, and investigate incidents involving property damage or personal injury.
- Record and document all incidents, unsafe activities, and violations. Manage permits for confined space entry and hot work as needed.
- Participate in walk-through tours with regulatory, insurance, or internal safety auditors.
- Stay informed about new safety technologies, gear, and practices by regularly reviewing safety publications and resources.
- Assist with responses to regulatory citations and help draft formal appeals for any violations.
- Evaluate critical lifting operations involving cranes or man-baskets and ensure proper safety controls are in place.
- Provide direction to site Safety Representatives and ensure uniform implementation of safety standards across projects.
- Oversee personnel matters such as hiring, disciplinary actions, and compensation decisions for safety staff.
- Execute additional assignments as delegated by upper management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of safety experience within a construction or industrial fabrication environment, with at least 1–3 years in a supervisory role preferred.
- Electrical experience of 1–3 years is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and the ability to enforce them effectively.
- Skilled at identifying hazardous situations and taking proactive corrective measures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities essential for team leadership and coordination.
