This EHS Specialist position at Lear Corporation in McCalla, AL focuses on supporting environmental, health, and safety programs across the facility. The role involves auditing, risk control, sustainability leadership, and ISO certification management.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation and enhancement of environmental controls for existing operations and new projects
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements
  • Maintain current environmental permits and compliance data; prepare reports for corporate and regulatory authorities
  • Lead emergency response activities and support incident investigations as needed
  • Perform daily walk-throughs of production and logistics areas to identify hazards and unsafe practices
  • Attend and lead safety committee and plant leadership meetings
  • Support incident reporting processes and workers’ compensation case handling
  • Provide direct support to plant leadership for EHS-related needs
  • Implement and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards to sustain certifications
  • Conduct safety and ergonomic risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and execute EHS improvement initiatives
  • Lead sustainability projects focused on energy reduction, waste minimization, and increased recycling
  • Monitor and report environmental metrics including energy, waste, and water usage to Corporate EHS
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and support Kaizen and continuous improvement projects
  • Provide EHS training for internal stakeholders including safety committee, engineering, and operations teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Safety, or Ergonomic Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for training, conferences, and plant support
