Key Responsibilities
- Lead and guide line management in developing and executing comprehensive Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) strategies.
- Deliver real-time, on-the-floor mentorship to promote safe work behaviors and reinforce a proactive safety culture.
- Ensure environmental compliance with programs such as waste management, water discharge, and Non-Title V air permit conditions.
- Conduct hazard identification and perform detailed risk assessments across job functions.
- Manage incident investigations by identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Handle occupational injury claims and facilitate effective return-to-work planning.
- Maintain OSHA 300 and 300A logs with accuracy and consistency.
- Conduct internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the Health and Safety Management System.
- Facilitate onboarding sessions and EHS training initiatives.
- Track and evaluate safety training records and continuously improve training program effectiveness.
- Coordinate and support EHS projects aimed at minimizing workplace risks and improving safety performance.
- Stay informed on OSHA and environmental regulations by attending seminars, reviewing literature, and consulting with industry experts.
- Offer technical support to employees and managers regarding EHS issues.
- Identify compliance gaps in health, safety, and environmental performance and develop practical solutions.
- Collaborate with leadership and HR to correct unsafe behaviors in a timely and constructive manner.
- Evaluate new processes and products for potential safety impacts before implementation.
- Distribute educational materials on environmental, health, and safety awareness across teams.
What It Takes to Succeed
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or an equivalent qualification in Health and Safety.
- At least two (2) years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of OSHA and EPA laws, plus state-specific environmental regulations.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to lead through influence, coach others effectively, and navigate safety discussions across all levels of an organization.
- Skilled in inductive reasoning and problem-solving, particularly for workplace safety improvements.
- Committed to ethical practices and upholding the highest safety standards.
- Comfortable working in office settings, on production floors, and outdoors when required.
- Politically and culturally aware, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capable of fostering strong working relationships with internal teams and external safety agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP, GSP, CIH, or equivalent.
- Completion of OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training.
- HazWOPER, DOT, and RCRA certifications.
- Experience compiling environmental, health, and safety data for reports and audits.
