Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute workplace safety programs, policies, and procedures that align with local and federal requirements.
- Identify potential hazards and unsafe behaviors across the facility, recommending and enforcing corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations and property damage reviews with clear, actionable reporting and presentation.
- Manage essential safety training sessions such as forklift operations, lockout/tagout procedures, and new employee onboarding.
- Deliver engaging safety orientations to all incoming team members.
- Facilitate Management of Change (MOC) processes for new equipment or layout modifications.
- Equip supervisors and team leaders with structured safety training content for weekly and monthly sessions.
- Monitor and document training completion against the Corporate Regulatory Task Schedule to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Evaluate trends in workplace injuries or illnesses to identify gaps in safety training materials.
- Oversee contractor safety protocols and ensure third-party compliance with internal standards.
- Support inspection processes from agencies like the EPA, DOT, and insurance carriers.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with environmental permits at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Assist in the selection and procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all roles.
- Compile and distribute monthly reports summarizing safety incidents and corrective measures.
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs with accuracy and oversight.
- Coordinate activities of internal safety teams and foster a culture of safety leadership.
- Guide site visitors on safe practices as an on-site safety mentor.
- File and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in line with regulatory requirements.
- Support the administration and documentation of the workers’ compensation program.
- Recommend and manage capital expenditures related to safety improvements and yearly budget allocations.
- Handle property and casualty insurance claims with accuracy and documentation.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as defined by the Regional EHS Director.
Core Skills Required
- Expertise in EHS compliance, OSHA standards, and environmental health practices.
- Proven background in safety program development and structured training delivery.
- Strong analytical capabilities in regulatory reporting and compliance tracking.
- Solid understanding of risk assessment procedures, permitting processes, and documentation workflows.
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation processes and loss prevention strategies.
Preferred Background and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety Management or a related field is advantageous.
- 1 to 3 years of safety experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Clear, concise communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities in fast-paced operations.
- Deep working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and additional government safety regulations.
