Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice and training to site personnel on health and safety initiatives, offering practical demonstrations and coaching.
- Evaluate HSE conditions, assess risks, and develop corrective action plans to maintain a safe working environment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with site operations teams, leadership, and regulatory agencies.
- Assist in creating and executing emergency plans, conducting periodic drills, and collaborating with local emergency services.
- Support incident investigations, develop corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned across the team.
- Oversee compliance tracking programs such as incident reporting systems, fleet management cameras, and environmental record keeping.
- Prepare reports for external authorities and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate compliance documentation.
- Track site progress against HSE metrics and goals to ensure safety performance improvements.
- Provide guidance on managing waste streams and regulatory compliance regarding hazardous materials and spill mitigation.
- Conduct HSE audits to ensure compliance with customer contracts and NSPS HSE procedures.
- Support Area Managers in reviewing safety plans, subcontractor programs, and training levels to meet HSE standards.
- Partner with NSPS Learning & Development to deliver training on key topics like Electrical Safety, Hazard Recognition, Fall Protection, and more.
- Assist sites in preparing for and participating in regulatory inspections, offering support during inspections when required.
- Collaborate with the Regional Director to understand QHSE training needs and manage customer expectations on safety performance.
- Participate in customer business reviews and provide safety performance insights as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HSE-related field, Occupational Health, or similar discipline.
- 3 years of experience in HSE roles within an industrial manufacturing or power-related environment, including 1 year in the wind/solar industry.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to drive regularly.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and on short notice, including weekends when necessary.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Preference for candidates based within the NSPS operating site region.
- Willingness to provide coverage for other areas of the HSE team when required.
- Must be available to work in challenging conditions and accommodate quick changes in schedule.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Solid knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and other relevant HSE standards.
- Proven experience interpreting and applying OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
- Ability to proactively identify safety risks and implement countermeasures.
- Strong experience in root cause safety investigations and risk management.
- Skilled in negotiating with regulatory agencies to resolve issues.
- Excellent interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills for leading teams, presenting technical information, and conducting training.
- Solar industry experience and familiarity with multiple inverter OEMs.
- Electrical Safety Qualified Worker or equivalent high voltage certification.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or CHST are a plus.
- Self-motivated, independent, and able to work with minimal oversight.
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and project outcomes.
