Key Responsibilities
- Execute tasks aligned with the EHS Roles and Responsibilities Matrix.
- Coordinate industrial safety and environmental systems, including hazardous chemical inventory reporting, MSDS maintenance, and compliance monitoring.
- Assist in the development and implementation of projects that support sustainability goals.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment, machinery, and work environments for fire safety, accident prevention, and energy optimization.
- Develop and maintain site-specific EHS programs and procedures to ensure alignment with federal, state, and internal standards.
- Deliver and coordinate EHS training for new hires and current staff, with a focus on ongoing awareness.
- Support employee engagement programs that encourage a positive EHS culture.
- Participate in root cause investigations for incidents and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate industrial hygiene sampling such as noise, dust, and toxic exposure evaluations.
- Lead or assist with internal and external EHS audits, including self-assessments.
- Create standard operating procedures (SOPs), one-point lessons (OPLs), and Safe Work Instructions (SWIs).
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing efforts and peer development through coaching and training.
- Maintain OSHA recordkeeping, coordinate testing, and support workers’ compensation processes.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including extended work hours if required by operational needs.
- Follow and uphold company quality and safety standards, including GMPs, AIB, PPE usage, and microbial controls.
- Promote and help implement local EHS policy, vision, and annual objectives.
- Contribute to the development of operational and capital budgets for EHS programs.
- Prepare short-term plans, documentation, and internal/external communication materials as needed.
- Maintain EHS Management Systems and coordinate team-based safety activities.
- Track and analyze EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor site performance.
- Ensure all required records are maintained and kept confidential.
- Conduct inspections for machine guarding, fire prevention systems, first aid supplies, and compliance with LOTO procedures.
- Monitor compliance of employees, contractors, and visitors with safety gear and site requirements.
- Evaluate site EHS performance and lead initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Review equipment design and usage to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
- Serve as a positive example of professional behavior, safety awareness, and continuous improvement.
- Manage CDL/DOT program documentation and sustainability reporting through SPHERA, including monthly data entries.
- Assist with inspections and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems and alarm functionality.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate’s or technical degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, or at least 3 years of relevant EHS experience.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Proficiency in Google Suite.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including shifts up to 12 hours and occasional weekend coverage.
- Capability to work in physically demanding environments—climbing, crawling, lifting (up to 50 lbs), wearing respirators, and operating at heights up to 120 feet.
- Comfort working in confined spaces and under varying weather or hazardous conditions.
