This Construction Safety Professional position at Barton Malow in Richmond, VA is focused on leading site-level safety operations and ensuring project compliance with internal standards and client requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee safety performance across multiple construction sites to ensure full compliance with project-specific safety plans
- Ensure adherence to both Barton Malow and client safety requirements, aiming for continuous improvement
- Deliver project safety orientations, toolbox talks, and other site-based training programs for employees and subcontractors
- Facilitate safety meetings with labor teams and management to address safety challenges and corrective actions
- Support the identification and resolution of hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors in coordination with subcontractors
- Monitor and improve Pre-Task Planning (PTP) activities; audit execution and provide structured feedback
- Conduct thorough incident investigations and report findings to senior safety and project leadership within deadlines
- Participate in incident review sessions with senior leadership, safety directors, and client representatives
- Maintain complete safety documentation, including reports on incidents, violations, and identified hazards
Required Education, Experience & Certifications
- Minimum of 5 years in construction safety management roles
- Availability to travel and support long-term project assignments as needed
- Experience preferred in industrial, healthcare, aeronautics, energy, stadium, or automotive construction environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- OSHA 30-Hour certification required
- OSHA 510 certification preferred
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification preferred
