You’ll lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of advanced Safety Management Systems (SMS) to ensure full compliance with OISD guidelines, statutory regulations, and international best practices. Your mission: Achieve a zero-harm workplace across our refinery complex.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce refinery-wide safety protocols and systems.
- Continuously monitor safety performance to reduce incidents and meet BSC targets.
- Guide operations with strategic safety planning, audits, and implementation support.
- Introduce advanced safety technologies and improve existing systems.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks: Factories Act, OISD, SMPV, API, and NFPA standards.
Key Challenges
- Reducing recordable injuries through proactive safety system enforcement.
- Integrating safety goals into the Annual Business Plan.
- Effective coordination between safety and operational teams.
- Deploying updated technologies to strengthen safety infrastructure.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements:
- B.E. or B.Sc. (preferably in engineering disciplines)
- Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory)
Experience:
- 12 to 17 years total experience in safety functions
- 7 to 9 years in refinery, petroleum, gas-based fertilizer, or similar process plants
Skills & Knowledge
- Deep understanding of Indian safety legislation and global safety codes
- Strong expertise in HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, SIL and other risk assessment methods
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 safety and environmental management systems
- Capability to track and improve performance of company-wide safety initiatives
- Working knowledge of safety aspects in product quality, energy, and environmental control
