Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005 and associated amendments.
  • Maintain and apply statutory fire safety guidance as defined in HTM Fire code.
  • Provide expert advice on fire safety legislation, policy, and best practice to staff and key stakeholders across all departments.
  • Support the development and delivery of fire safety training tailored to clinical and non-clinical personnel.
  • Ensure that all personnel and property are adequately safeguarded from fire risks through proactive risk management.
  • Investigate fire incidents and near misses, compiling detailed technical reports with root cause analysis and action plans.
  • Undertake any other fire safety tasks as agreed with the Trust’s Fire Safety Manager, contributing to wider strategic objectives.

Essential Qualifications and Memberships

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification relevant to fire safety management.
  • NEBOSH Level 4 Fire Safety Diploma or equivalent industry certification.
  • Accredited Fire Risk Assessor training and current competence.
  • Certified HTM 05-03 Part K Fire Risk Assessor.
  • Completed HTM Firecode training including HTM 05-01, 05-02, and 05-03 modules.
  • Recognized teaching/training qualification for delivering fire safety instruction.
  • Membership in a recognized fire safety professional body (e.g., NAHFO, IFE, IFSM, IFPO).

Experience Requirements

  • Proven track record in a fire advisor or fire manager role, ideally in healthcare or public sector.
  • Experience working in large-scale, high-risk environments with multiple buildings and complex infrastructures.
  • Ability to develop and implement fire safety strategies, policies, and operational guidance documents.
  • Experience working at a senior or corporate level with the ability to influence organizational safety direction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in designing and delivering fire safety training to staff at all levels, including senior management.
  • Competence in using Office 365 tools and safety reporting software.
