The HSE Officer Job in Atkins Realis | HSE Jobs in Abu Dhabi, UAE is a high-impact opportunity to lead health, safety, and environmental operations on some of the region’s largest construction projects. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of work zones, laydown areas, offices, tools, and vehicles to ensure safety readiness.
- Identify HSE non-conformances and respond appropriately based on severity and urgency.
- Develop and execute site-specific Emergency Response Plans (ERPs).
- Perform monthly self-audits and submit findings through the BlueSky HSE data management platform.
- Generate detailed HSE reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
- Identify and fulfill training needs for subcontractor teams, including toolbox talks and formal sessions.
- Implement AtkinsRealis GHSEMS (Global Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System).
- Establish and maintain systems for regulatory and corporate safety compliance.
- Collaborate with site managers and supervisors by offering documentation, guidance, and strategic input.
- Maintain full knowledge of active project zones and daily activities to ensure up-to-date compliance monitoring.
- Verify subcontractor HSE qualifications and training records to ensure team competence.
- Lead joint HSE site inspections and participate in HSE-focused meetings.
- Conduct incident investigations and oversee the follow-up of all corrective actions.
- Coordinate with subcontractor HSE officers to align practices and resolve issues.
- Keep the Construction/Project Manager informed of safety-related matters and non-compliance risks.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of HSE experience in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or OSHA certification is mandatory. Advanced certifications (CSP, CHMM, ARM) are preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of UAE HSE regulations and international standards like ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with site teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset with a commitment to continuous safety improvement.
- Proficiency in HSE software tools, data portals, and reporting systems.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments while balancing multiple project demands.
