This position plays a critical role in fostering a safe and compliant job site while contributing to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Plan and ensure alignment with regulatory standards and safe work practices.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of project-specific HSE training initiatives tailored to field conditions.
- Provide HSE insights, trends, and safety observations to project teams, helping shape actionable safety plans.
- Contribute to the design and rollout of hazard identification tools that proactively minimize risk.
- Conduct site inspections and ensure timely implementation of corrective measures where needed.
- Aid in the activation and oversight of emergency response procedures and monitor site security requirements.
- Collaborate with trade contractors by reviewing safety documentation and verifying compliance with HSE expectations.
- Monitor inspection routines for tools and equipment, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to safety standards.
- Promptly report any incidents and play an active role in supporting investigations.
- Build constructive working relationships across the project team and with stakeholders to promote a safety-first culture.
Qualifications & Skills
- Progressing toward a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- On track to earn a recognized safety designation.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the construction sector, preferably in an HSE-focused role.
- Willingness to learn construction-specific terminology and safety processes.
- Familiarity with relevant OH&S and environmental legislation.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, especially in safety presentations and documentation.
- Capable of resolving conflicts and encouraging collaboration among teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with enthusiasm for adapting to new safety technologies.
