Your Responsibilities:
As a key member of the Hitachi Energy team, your role will involve:
- Reporting HSE incidents and sharing lessons learned and best practices across the organization, including feedback to management and employees.
- Tracking and reporting the progress of Hitachi Energy Group Sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) at both Business Unit and Group levels.
- Implementing policies and standards, ensuring regular audits are conducted in accordance with the audit program.
- Supporting line managers in understanding obligations and fulfilling HSE responsibilities according to local laws and Hitachi Energy’s policies.
- Facilitating HSE risk assessments, collaborating with line management, project management, site teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to address potential hazards and ensure effective implementation.
- Conducting and leading key safety concepts, such as risk assessments and environmental impact assessments.
- Driving behavioral change through the implementation of Group-wide performance improvement programs, fostering a strong health and safety culture while emphasizing environmental responsibility.
- Engaging both external and internal stakeholders to raise awareness and commitment to HSE efforts and gain feedback on performance.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including the Center of Excellence (CoE) and business partners, to drive improvements in HSE performance.
- Coaching and guiding management and employees on safety culture, prevention activities, and a collaborative approach to health and safety.
- Identifying and planning training needs for employees and contractors, ensuring safety equipment and tools are available and utilized.
- Ensuring compliance with Hitachi Energy Operating System, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, and participating in incident prevention programs, workshops, and incident investigations.
- Contributing to tendering safety documents, risk reviews during tender stages, and contractor HSE assessments.
- Participating in and managing HSE, Sustainability, and Corporate Responsibility projects, with a focus on setting objectives and monitoring project progress.
- Managing project resources, including manpower, finances, and other critical factors.
- Ensuring that internal and external audits of the HSE management system are carried out effectively.
- Leading, motivating, and developing a high-performing team while adhering to HR policies.
Your Background:
- Education: A preferred Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, with 10-12 years of experience in the HSE field (experience in substation business is a plus).
- Certifications: Completion of a full-time safety course (minimum 1 year) is required. NEBOSH certification is preferred, with an OSHA training program as an added advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction activities and familiarity with workplace risk assessment methodologies.
- Proven leadership and organizational skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Applications and the ability to conduct audits and incident reporting.
- Familiarity with country legislation, environmental laws, and procedures to ensure compliance and improve company practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in both spoken and written English.
