Job Purpose:
The Lead Engineer, Safety plays a pivotal role in driving safety excellence across the organization. This leadership position is focused on developing, implementing, and enhancing safety engineering practices to meet regulatory requirements and improve operational safety standards. The role also includes leading safety initiatives, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert guidance to ensure a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Engineering Leadership:
- Develop and implement advanced safety engineering practices in alignment with Ma’aden’s safety policies and industry regulations.
- Act as the subject matter expert in safety engineering, offering technical guidance and strategic insights.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct detailed risk assessments for projects and operational activities.
- Identify hazards and recommend robust mitigation strategies to minimize risks.
- Incident Investigation:
- Lead comprehensive investigations into safety incidents.
- Analyze root causes and design effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaboration on Safety Standards:
- Work closely with the Corporate Safety Team to design and refine safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure these standards are communicated and implemented organization-wide.
- Audits and Compliance:
- Participate in internal safety audits and inspections.
- Monitor and report on compliance with local and international safety regulations and standards.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement opportunities for enhancing safety processes and performance.
- Adopt and promote industry best practices to elevate organizational safety culture.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. - Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in EHSS audit and assurance functions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local and international EHSS regulations (e.g., SAF, OSHA).
