HSE Advisor Role: Responsibilities and Requirements
What Will You Be Doing as an HSE Advisor?
As an HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a safe and compliant workplace while driving continuous improvement in health and safety practices. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring Legal Compliance
- Implementing robust procedures to maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
- Promoting a Positive Safety Culture
- Coaching and engaging team members at all levels to build awareness and accountability for safety standards on-site.
- Tracking Performance and Driving Improvement
- Monitoring health and safety performance indicators, setting clear expectations, and developing annual plans to achieve continuous improvement.
- Managing Site HSE Priorities and Budget
- Identifying and prioritizing site loss opportunities, managing the HSE budget, and allocating annual capital effectively.
- Collaborating Proactively
- Serving as a proactive and influential member of the site HSE Department, contributing to key decisions and initiatives.
Key Requirements for the HSE Advisor Role
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Essential:
- NEBOSH Health and Safety Certificate.

- NEBOSH Health and Safety Diploma or an equivalent qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 6).
- Environmental Qualification, such as the IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment) Certificate.
